Who are we?
A non-profit corporation created to promote the economic development potential of the Seward area. The Development Corporation was established as a non-profit corporation to help the Seward area realize it's economic development potential. The organization is involved in development activities, economic growth activities, employment activities, social welfare activities and the promotion of this area.

The membership elects a Board of Directors who serve three-year terms. This board conducts the business and affairs of the corporation. There are twelve directors. The board meets monthly and as needed. It consists of a president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer.

 

 
What can we do?
To better serve the Seward area:
1. We can conduct social, promotional, educational and cultural activities.
2. We can acquire, improve and operate any real or personal property.
3. We can sell, convey, assign, mortgage or lease any real and personal property.
4. We can borrow money and execute contracts, agreements, mortgages, deeds, etc.
 
In general, we are here to facilitate orderly and positive economic growth in the Seward area.

 

Members

The corporation has only one class of members . . . individual. The membership dues are set by the Board of Directors. It presently is $50.00 per year.

This non-transferable membership entitles the member to one vote at a membership meeting. The annual meeting is held the last Monday of June at 8:00 PM at the Seward Civic Center. Special meetings may be held at any time.

   
Activities

The Seward Development Corporation is actively recruiting business and industry for our area.

1. We work to identify community strengths and to match those strengths with the needs of business and industry.
2. We work with land owners and industries to acquire land at fair market values.
3. We work with area utility representatives to assess the feasibility of placing utility infrastructures on sites.
4. We work with state, regional, local and national entities to bring about the easy move of a business or industry into our area.
5. We do area research on a continual basis to assess the needs and strengths of our area.
6. We facilitate the communication between communities and industry.
7. We promote our area through conference attendance, through speaking opportunities, through recruitment trips

 

How to Join

Memberships in the Seward Area Development Corporation are from June 1 to May 30. Our individual membership is only $50.00 per year.
